Tap Social Movement is a fully independent social enterprise, craft brewery, bakery, and hospitality organisation that creates training and employment for people in prison and prison leavers. Having a fulfilling job helps build self-confidence and resilience, and equips people for a productive and happy life. We believe that everyone benefits when no-one is excluded from work.
Drink beer that tastes good and does good. Join the movement - Change is Brewing!
"42% of men in prison (and nearly 80% of young adults in prison) spend at least 22 hours locked in their cells. Unsurprisingly, reoffending rates are high (>50%) and employment rates are low (20%) after prison. Time in training and employment is Time Better Spent"
Created for people in prison or recently released from prison to date.
Directly employed at one of our locations across Oxford.
"Last night we danced to '70s soul with grannies to the left and goths to the right and everyone else in between. That sums up Tap Social: it's for everyone and you feel good being there. The beer is great, the place oozes cool, they keep it fresh with different events and music, and the food always hits the spot. Above all, they are a positive, happy bunch of people doing good for ex-offenders. Go feel good at Tap Social."
"Tap Social was pivotal in me being able to go straight from prison into paid employment. Upon my release, the Tap team placed me with one of their partner employers in the construction and infrastructure sector. Tap had already met with them and sold them on me being a good fit, and spoke highly of me at a time when my self-esteem may not have been the highest. I still work there, am in good health, and am proud to be added to Tap's list of success stories."
Reached through our workshops, interview schemes, art programmes and employment fairs.
We have four vibrant community spaces across Oxfordshire, all host to a variety of events as well as being open to the public daily. Our original Taproom, our bakehouse cafe Proof, The Market Tap in Oxford's historic Covered Market, and Lock29 in Banbury.
